In this course, children will embark on an exciting artistic journey, discovering the power of pencil drawing as they learn to bring their ideas to life on paper. They will develop fundamental drawing skills, such as line work, shading, and perspective, enabling them to create realistic and imaginative pencil illustrations.
As young artists expand their horizons, they will also delve into the world of painting. They will learn various painting techniques, explore color theory, and experiment with different mediums, including watercolors and acrylics. Through hands-on projects, they will discover the joy of mixing colors, creating textures, and expressing themselves through vibrant and expressive paintings.
In addition to pencil drawing and painting, this course introduces children to the exciting realm of concept art. They will learn how to develop characters, environments, and imaginative worlds using their creative imagination. Through storytelling and visual problem-solving, they will develop their narrative skills and gain insight into the process of creating art for video games, animation, and movies.
This course advances past the foundations of art and emphasis is placed on understanding the Gestalt Theory to create more complex visual statements. Students will continue to develop their creative skills and spend several weeks on projects that demonstrate exploration of composition, perspective, focus, and clarity. Students will learn to create using common technique and processes with their preferred medium to create 2-Dimensional works, whether it be on paper, digitally, or other mediums. Students will learn to evaluate their practices and to apply critical thinking on elevating their works and creative mind.
Prior experience in drawing or media admiration is encouraged but not required! We are here to learn and adapt 🙂
